Instagram works to prevent users from becoming addicted to the social media app. Known as ‘Take a break’, this feature will remind users to take a break from the Instagram after spending a set amount of time using it.
Instagram head “Adam Mosseri” made an announcement about the feature being introduced on social media. According to Mosseri, the feature will go into testing this week. ‘Take a break’ will allow users to get break reminders during the use of instagram after a specified time.
Mosseri said he hoped to launch the new feature in December. The feature will be tested on about one to two percent of app users, and if all goes well, the change will be rolled out gradually over the coming months. According to Mosseri, this change will allow users to have more control over their internal system experience.
Mosseri also said users will see such features in the future.
According to reports, Instragram is also set to release a subscription feature to help creators and developers. The company recently added in-app purchases options with the ‘Instagram subscription’ program.
Instagram has received numerous reports about the harmful effects of the app on many users, especially teenagers. Following criticism, the app has announced that it is creating parental controls for teen account login.
